Auction committee tracking on your phone

Auction committees—often just called committees—are a familiar way groups in India rotate money and keep a shared record of members. They also tend to live in WhatsApp chats, notebooks, and one person who “remembers everything.” An auction committee tracking habit on your phone is about transparency: who is in, who can see the committee, and what details are not lost in a 400-message group.

Why committees outgrow a chat thread

A typical committee starts simple: a list of names, a cycle, maybe an auction or rotation. Then people join, someone drops out, a number changes, and the organiser is the only one with the full picture.

WhatsApp is a messenger. It is a poor database:

• Pinning a message does not create a member list you can trust.
• Screenshots of a notebook go stale.
• New members cannot see history they were never in.
• Privacy is awkward: the whole family group sees admin chatter.

A dedicated committee view does not replace trust. It reduces “I never got that message.”

A cleaner workflow for organisers

1. Create the committee in Treasure when the group is agreed, not three cycles later.
2. Add members with the contact details you actually use to reach them.
3. Tell members they need the Android app to view the committee—download Treasure.
4. Keep personal spending separate. Your grocery UPI is not the committee. Use personal income/expense tracking for your money, and the committee screen for the group record.

A cleaner workflow for members

If you are added to a committee, open it in the app instead of asking the organiser to resend the same list. If something looks wrong, talk to the organiser—software cannot fix a disagreement about who paid what last cycle, but it can stop the disagreement from being about “which screenshot is latest.”

Use your own income and expense tracking for the money you personally put in or receive from the committee, if that helps you stay honest with your month. That is your ledger. The committee view is the group’s membership layer.

Should you use committees in Treasure?

Use it if you already run or join an auction committee and want members to see the same committee record on their phones.

Skip it if you only needed a student or first-salary expense tracker. Treasure’s main job remains: know where your money goes, with categories and reports.

Personal money and committees can live in one app without being the same feature. That is why the marketing site treats committees as extra, not as the headline.
